OBAMA ENERGIZED & COMMITTED TO TURNING AMERICA AROUND

OBAMA ENERGIZED & COMMITTED TO TURNING AMERICA AROUND
October 20, 2009

JFK, NY. Air Force One landed safely and President Obama disembarked alone, waved and walked energetically to an awaiting helicopter which transported him to Wall Street. His energy, even at 150 feet away electrified the small group of press that were awaiting his arrival. A police and Secret Service motorcade escorted our President from the helicopter and transported him to the Joint Terrorism Task Force Headquarters at 10th Avenue in Manhattan.

The President had a very busy day in New York city. The first stop at the Joint Terrorism Task Force was conducted to thank and encourage the FBI, NYPD and countless other federal and state partners that work tirelessly to thwart the threats of terrorism and keep America and New York city safe. President Obama congratulated FBI director, Robert Mueller, NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly and also Joe Demarest, who is in charge of the FBI’s NY Field Office Counterterrorism Division. Our President had lunch at the Mandarin Oriental and then on to a fundraiser for Bill Owens, Democratic nominee.

The DNC event followed where guests paid $15,000 per ticket to share the room and eat with the President of the United States of America. Finally, Obama stopped at the Hammerstein Ballroom on 34th Street, NY to talk about healthcare reform. The tickets for the event at the Hammerstein were a bit more reasonable, $250 to $1000 per ticket. The President’s address at this event was streamed live via webcast to over 200,000 supporters at ‘calling parties’ nationwide. Organizing for America provided calling lists to supporters to call as many people as possible, urging them to support Obama administration’s health care reform initiative. The calling parties were successful in that they more than doubled the goal of making 100,000 calls.

Many local politicians attended this last event. President Obama congratulated John Liu, acknowledged Anthony Weiner and Bill Di Blasio and called candidate for mayor, Bill Thompson, a friend. Mayor Bloomberg was not sighted at any of these events.President Obama was quoted as saying, "You know sometimes Democrats can be their own worst enemies. Democrats can be an opinionated bunch...I like that. But it's time for us to make sure we finish the job here. We are this close. We've got to be unified."

Our President ended his visit to New York city with a final encouraging message: "We are in this for the long haul...I don't know about you, I just want you to know, I'm just getting started. I don't know about you, but I'm not tired. I feel refreshed and I feel energized and it's because of you. If you're willing to keep on going. If you're willing to keep on marching...We can succeed. Yes we can....We are going to turn this country around."
